What is Biomagnetism?

Biomagnetism or Biomagnetic Pair — BMP™ is a revolutionary, scientific and therapeutic approach to wellness that differs from traditional medicine, homeopathy, herbs and natural therapies. It is perfectly compatible with any other traditional or alternative modality.

It is an internationally practiced health approach that strives to attain bio-energetic balance in the human body; the state of natural health known as “homeostasis”. It involves the precise and proper (North/South polarity) placement of special high field strength magnets over very specific areas of the body, to support regulation of pH in these very areas.

By maintaining adequate pH, homeostasis may be reestablished so that the body can heal itself. This therapy stimulates normal immune system function, increased circulation and oxygenation, normalizing response to inflammation and many more positive effects on our bodies.

It is believed that pH imbalances may ultimately accumulate and combine to allow the development of symptoms, syndromes and other health conditions in our bodies. Read more

Who discovered Biomagnetism?

Biomag
Biomagnetic Pair Therapy (BPT)—developed by Isaac Goiz Durán, MD in Mexico City, Mexico in October 1988.

What is the history of Biomagnetism Therapy?

Dr. Isaac Goiz of Mexico first discovered the medically healing power of “pairs” of magnets over 32 years ago. His revolutionary discovery was inspired after he attended a course on bioenergy held at the medical school of the University of Guadalajara in Mexico, taught by Dr. Richard Broeringmeyer.

Dr. Broeringmeyer shared that the body’s organs and tissues can become magnetically polarized. He used the technique of Kinesiology (muscle test) to locate magnetic polarizations (and pH alterations) in the body.

Inspired and enthused, Dr Goiz experimented with single-poled magnets in pairs and monitored the body’s responses to these applications. Dr. Goiz discovered the first biomagnetic pair consisting of the thymus and rectum on one of his patients. In the years that followed,

Dr. Goiz and his associates researched and uncovered hundreds biomagnetic pairs. These “Biomagnetic pairs” are meticulously tested in healthcare facilities all over the world.

How does BioMagnetic Pair Therapy help our body?

session
The BMP (BioMagnetic Pair) studies, detects, classifies, measures and allows the correction of pH imbalances in living organisms. By reestablishing the natural pH balance of the body, different microorganisms such as virus, fungi, bacteria and parasites can be kept under control by our renewed natural defenses.

What typically happens during a Biomagnetism session?

session

Biomagnetism session is a learning and healing session.  During the first few minutes an interview is conducted to understand the reasons behind the health visit.

It is advised to wear comfortable cotton form-fitting clothes, socks and closed-toe shoes that fit well. During the therapy session the person will lie fully clothed and comfortably on their back on a massage table.

The therapist will then conduct a kinesiology assessment to identify pH imbalances in different areas of the body.  This approach allows for the observation of your muscle reactivity that shows which specific anatomical points are balanced, or, too alkaline or acidic.

Pairs of lightweight medium intensity magnets are gently placed on your body over your clothing, targeting Biomagnetic Pairs whose pH levels are imbalanced.  Magnets must remain on the client for a determined amount of time-based on the geographic latitude of where the therapy is being conducted.

Clients generally feel good during and after a Biomagnetic session. Clients often report feeling more relaxed, lighter, and energized.  After the magnets are removed from the body, a brief summary and recommendations are offered to the client.

How long is each Biomagnetism session?

Biomagnetism Sessions usually last 60-90 minutes but may take longer, depending on the number of pairs identified which need to be balanced. The first session may be a little longer due to the introductory explanation of Biomagnetism to the client.  Make sure to have adequate time in your schedule so that you can relax and get the greatest possible benefit from it.

How many Biomagnetism sessions are needed for one’s health issue?

Every case is different. Sometimes, only one session is necessary, in others three to five.

However, with chronic conditions or cases that are more complex, with many variables (Heavy metal toxicities, nutritional deficiencies, bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal infections, unresolved emotional conflicts and other) causing multiple health conditions more sessions may be needed.

Are there any instances when Biomagnetism is not recommended?

There are no real contraindications to receiving biomagnetism, just precautions. Biomagnetism may be applied during pregnancy.

An experienced practitioner will know to ask whether the therapy should be best applied for the mother or baby or both and how to apply the magnets for each situation.

Clients with a history of epilepsy may also benefit from Biomagnetism and must understand that when toxins are being released from the body, sometimes a detox reaction may occur whereby there is a temporary increase in inflammation that may affect the client temporarily.

A well trained and experienced therapist will know the best areas of the brain and body to work with to bring the appropriate balance to minimize detox reactions.

Biomagnetism may be used on clients with pacemakers, as long as the area of the pacemaker is avoided.

What are the side effects of biomagnetism therapy?

There are no real negative side effects to Biomagnetism therapy.  It can be combined with other therapies or alternative modalities.

The majority of people feel good immediately after a session, but a few people may feel exhausted or wiped out after a long and complex therapy.  Just like exercise is fantastic for the body, so is Biomagnetism.

In the same way that a person may feel exhausted after working out, sometimes the client may also feel exhausted for a day or two after the session. The degree of tiredness depends on the number of magnetic pairs placed during the session and the pH imbalances being resolved such as detoxing as a result of the toxins and inflammation leaving the body.

When this happens, the body simply needs lots of fluids for the following three days and a day or two of good sleep so that the body can begin to heal itself and restore homeostasis.

Is Biomagnetic therapy costly?

Biomagnetism therapy costs vary based on practitioner experience, results and countries.

An average session in Latin America can cost $100 by an experienced practitioner.  An average session in the US can cost $250 per 1.5 hr session.  I

f the practitioner offers longer 2 hour blocks, then the fee goes up.  If the practitioner has a long wait list and great results, the fee understandably will be more based on laws of supply and demand.

In comparison to expensive medical treatments, Biomagnetism is not expensive at all.   A trip to the emergency room or to a local urgent care can run you up several hundred to several thousand dollars.

Specialized treatments or repeated therapies are even more expensive when you add them up.  Biomagnetism provides an economic alternative to the expensive and often invasive procedures of traditional medicine.

Instead of dealing with something like chronic gastritis caused by H. Pylori bacterial infection and having to visit the general practitioner and taking antibiotics and other meds and possibly getting an invasive endoscopy and visiting the gastroenterologist and more, an experienced Biomagnetism therapist should be able to help you avoid all that through nutritional and lifestyle modifications and several Biomagnetism sessions.

Can you explain BMP in layman terms with an example?

For example, when you take a fish out of water, it can no longer survive in that new environment no matter how much oxygen or light is available. All fish need water to survive but some need saltwater, whereas others need freshwater.

Also everyone who has had an aquarium or pool knows of the importance of pH balance in the water. We are no different. Our body is made up of over 65% water and has a very specific pH balance that it needs to maintain if we are to remain healthy!

If we reestablish our body’s natural pH balance in our liver, lungs, pancreas, kidneys, muscles, joints, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, etc.then these organs may begin working correctly again. The old saying, “You are what you eat” holds true.

If we eat acid-producing foods, then our bodies will shift towards a more acidic pH. More acidic pH is believed to promote inflammation and chronic conditions such as cancer, among others.

What is the importance of pH balance?

The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral. Below 7 is acidic and above 7 is alkaline. Arterial and venous blood must maintain a slightly alkaline pH: arterial blood pH = 7.41 and venous blood pH = 7.36.

Because the normal pH of arterial blood is 7.41, this has given rise to a variety of approaches based on increasing the alkalinity of the tissues, such as a vegetarian diet, the drinking of fresh fruit and vegetable juices, and dietary supplementation with alkaline minerals to maintain body pH.

Although these strategies help maintain pH, they may not be enough in today’s harsh environment. The Photographic illustration of pH scale can be viewed here.

Is it possible to recover a healthy metabolic state using Biomagnetism?

Dr Goiz revealed that it is possible to recover a healthy metabolic states through the use of magnetic fields of medium intensity, produced by magnets of 1,000 to 4,000 Gauss, applied in pairs in specific parts of the body called Biomagnetic Pairs (BMP).

This approach is a type of biofeedback, where the Biomagnetic Pairs complement each other, leading to homeostasis.

How does BMP actually work?

By applying these BMP at specific locations of the body, the reestablishment of the proper pH is permitted in that area, and when present, pathogens cannot survive in this pH environment.

Cells become healthy and the body starts healing itself. Finally, the healing process occurs when the pH is balanced and reaches its optimal level that determines the well-being of the person, which before the therapy was altered by the presence of pathogenic microorganisms that distorted the levels of acidity and alkalinity (pH) of the organs. This is what sustains the bio-energetic phenomenon.

Is Biomagnetism similar to magnet therapy?

No, It is not similar to magnet therapy. Magnet therapy has been applied with one polar principle just for dysfunction or injuries under two concepts: a) South pole as analgesic, b) North pole as anti-inflammatory. The magnetic fields used for this purpose are of low intensity (between 100 to 500 gauss) and are applied for longer periods of time, hours or days, and in areas that show specific symptoms.

Biomagnetism and bioenergetic pairs are vibrational phenomena , not related to standard medicine, as they do not suppress symptoms or claim to “cure” disease as licensed medicine claims . The time it takes for the application of the therapy varies from 20 to 90 minutes depending on the person’s location in relation to the equator, as explained during the certification course.

How do I understand BMP with regards to the AMA Code of Ethics?

The AMA Code of Ethics explains the distinction between therapies such as BMP and the licensed practice of medicine.

While “treatment which has no scientific basis” is condemned (Opinion 3.01), under Opinion 3.04, physicians are free to “refer” a patient “for therapeutic or diagnostic services to another physician, limited practitioner or any other provider of health care services permitted by law to furnish such services, whenever he or she believes that this may benefit the patient.”

Thus, unscientific “treatment” is distinguished from “health care services permitted by law.” “Treatment” — which means the use of standard medicine and surgery to “cure” disease — is distinguished from other health care services (therapies) which need only meet the lesser “may benefit” standard.

Is a prescription required to take Biomagnetism therapy?

While physicians “prescribe” treatments for disease, therapies that may benefit may merely be subject to “referral” thereby further indicating the distinction.

Thus, for example, BMP, used to support normal structure and function, to support therapeutic outcomes, can be seen to complement licensed medicine, but not to be held to its strictures, nor limited in its practice to licensed physicians.

Since such therapies are not prescription services, members of the public may choose such services without the permission of their physician.

Who can practice Biomagnetism?

Certified Biomagnetic Practitioners, unless separately licensed to do so, do not diagnose or prescribe for medical or psychological conditions nor claim to prevent, treat, mitigate or cure such conditions, nor provide diagnosis, care, treatment or rehabilitation of individuals, nor apply medical, mental health or human development principles

But rather provide traditional ministerial counseling, bioenergetic, biofeedback, herbal and/or nutritional modalities that may offer therapeutic benefit by supporting normal structure and function. List of Biomagnetism practitioners trained by Dr. Luis F Garcia MD is published here.
